Control unit and HMI are the intelligent core of any modern machine. A display with modern, intuitive design and contemporary visualization represents the “face” of the machine. For good reason, more and more computing power is being used for this. An application-optimized, resource-saving and thus cost-effective solution requires more and more engineering effort. In order to increase flexibility while keeping costs as low as possible, both devices operate independently of each other, but are perfectly coordinated and can be programmed with one common tool.
The modular Kuhnke FIO controllers are based on EtherCAT and can be programmed in CODESYS. Together with the cost-optimized Kuhnke Vico touch display from Kendrion, they form a perfect combination, consisting of independent machine control and convenient user interface. All relevant machine processes, such as the PLC program, motion control and, if required, functional safety, run on the modular control unit. The display is exclusively reserved for human-machine interactions. Both systems work hand in hand because they access the same variables, functions and program parts.
Programming takes place in a common programming environment, but the program sequence is carried out on separate hardware platforms, so that even complex processes can be handled without any problems. But the devices are not "monogamous", because thanks to the flexible CODESYS HMI solution for embedded systems, multiple displays can access one control unit fully independently of one another. Just as one display can be used to visualize multiple control devices. A perfect interaction that is able to master any situation.
