Integrated functional safety is state of the art on most machines. With its security solution, Kendrion relies on standard CODESYS as programming environment, as well as EtherCAT® as fieldbus, and is expanding its product portfolio with three new security components. The new Kuhnke FIO Safety IO modules complement the existing safety controls and safely enable many new applications in a cost-effective manner.
Kendrion's modular EtherCAT-based IO system Kuhnke FIO enables the integration of both safe and non-safety-related modules. It is a viable solution for all your peripheral expansion at significantly lower engineering and commissioning costs. Used as a remote IO, it is connected to the higher-level controller by means of a bus coupler. Alternatively, safety PLCs and IO modules extend the Kuhnke FIO controller to a modular PLC. The new FSoE modules provide either 16 digital inputs plus 4 digital outputs, 8 digital inputs plus 2 digital outputs or 16 digital inputs. All inputs and outputs comply with category 4, PL e (EN ISO 13849-1) and SIL 3 according to IEC 61508/62061. The inputs, for example, detect sensors with potential-free contacts and can be linked to either integrated or external test pulse outputs. The outputs act completely independent of each other and switch all 24 V DC consumers, which must be shut down safely.
